My paintings continue to weave narrative tales punctuated with appropriated mediated images from the Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Lassie and Bambi. The new works display simultaneous layers of reality where familiar characters have moved beyond their traditional moral discourse. Inside out, upside down, reversed and mirrored put our familiar childhood comforts in a state of peril. Through role play, games, and following the rules, feelings of loss and regret and disenchantment are subverted into a manageable social context. Warnings of impending tragedy are literally spelled out as language is the vehicle to discern between unusual logic and utter nonsense.
